A die-advocate of lyrical puritanism and responsible entertainment,
Russell Brandte was born in Howard Avenue, Brooklyn on the eastern
shore of Long Island where his dad worked as a shipping clerk.
As a very inclusive member of the children choir of Macedonia
Baptist church, Russell not only learnt how to play the keyboard, he
was also at a tender already showing signs of acoustic precocity,
producing pleasant and amazing melodies with the keyboard.
Sequel to the oil boom of the 80s, the family relocated back to
Nigeria. But old tricks, they say, die hard.
The acoustic skills which
he learnt during his blossoming years of childhood in Brooklyn were
rediscovered if not rekindled, albeit in the direction of responsible
entertainment and lyrical propagation. Russel is a self-conscious
entertainer who delights more in creating a tonic of evergreen lyrical
elixir that edifies and inspires his audience.
This is the basic
essence of Russell’s craft, dishing out blends of healing melodies
and lyrics that leaves the audience totally unspoiled by traditional
audio-visual outrage and vulgarity.
He had education at the university of Calabar before he decided
altogether in 2005, to burn his boats and make a go at maximizing his
latent singing talents by making his official recording.
The reasons why none of his song were heard hitherto were not
unconnected with his unstoppable resolve to take family- worthy lyrics
and responsible entertainment to the stratospheric heights of
excellence. This is against the backdrop of the traditional vogue and
bandwagon culture of spicing contents with hints of soft-pornographic
graphics and youthful vulgarity.
Russell’s lyrics are the very classic examples of evergreen melodies and philosophies of responsible entertainment unleaashed into the global village.
