Photos: Usain Bolt Makes Football Debut

The world's fastest man has graced the football pitch in a professional capacity for the first time as Usain Bolt made his debut for A-League side Central Coast Mariners.

On trial with the Australian club, Bolt came on in the 72nd minute of a friendly match against a Central Coast select side with the Mariners already leading 6-0.

A double from Jack Clisby plus goals from Peter Kekeris, Michael McGlinchey, Mario Shabow and Josh MacDonald allowed Bolt to come on under little pressure.

Though the opposition did score from a free-kick not long after he came on, Bolt was in the thick of the action as he was deployed on the left wing.


While there were a few heavy touches from the Jamaican, he was getting himself into some dangerous positions - twice denied headers from close range and was only inches away from a tap-in after 90 minutes.

It wasn't all smooth sailing for Bolt however, who was forced to take off a golden necklace a few minutes after coming on and was sweating profusely as the full-time whistle went.

There's clearly still plenty of work to do for the 32-year-old if he is to earn an A-League contract, but time is on his side, with the Mariners vowing to give him as long as 12 months to get him up to speed.

2019: Saraki’s Ward Rejects Him

The people of Ajikobi Ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara said they were tired of the Saraki dynasty and had resolved to reject him or anybody he put forward for election in the state.

A community leader in Ajikobi, Alhaji Omar Aiyelabegan, who addressed journalists on Friday at his family compound in Ilorin, declared that nobody would succumb to Saraki’s dictate again.

“We have our independent mind, even my children have the right to belong to where it will benefit them, we are tired of Bukola Saraki,” he said.

Aiyelabegan, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara said the Senate President never got the people’s mandate to be their leader.


Ajikobi Ward is also the Senate President’s ward while Aiyelabegan’s and Agbaji compound, the family house of Sen. Saraki are very close to each other.

Aiyelabegan said the people chose to be silent at the self-imposed leadership of the Saraki family.

He lamented that the Saraki family and indeed, the Senate President had never reciprocated it with meaningful physical development in Agbaji and its environs.

“The people of Kwara have never had it right from the time the Saraki family decided not only to be king makers as custodians but as king in addition.

“Since then up-to-date, we at the grassroots have become the prisoners of the family – like chickens or sheep ready for rousting or for pepper soup at any time the election is approaching.

“It is only when election is approaching that they dangle carrots as empowerment for the long forgotten electorate, to woo them,” he said.

Aiyelabegan warned APC National Secretariat that the Saraki family have outlived their welcome.

He declared that the Senate president no longer had the goodwill to sell the people of Kwara again, as usual, to the highest political party bidders as far as the votes of Kwara people were concerned.

“Kwara people are never given the chance to make representations ‎on matters that concerned them in government, either at the executive or legislative levels.

According to him, the people of Kwara State have spoken loudly during the last local government elections when Saraki’s candidates lost woefully and even at the Senate President’s voting booth in Agbaji.

The APC chieftain,however, cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari to be wary of those who were once followers of Bukola Saraki both in the state and at the national level who claimed to be in APC, yet loyal to Saraki.

MOMENT Girl Almost Died In A Pool On Her First Birthday As Mom Texted Away [Video]

A Toddler girl was left fighting for her life after she nearly drowned in a swimming pool while her mum was distracted by her phone.

Distressing footage showed her mother was so glued to her mobile she ignored calls from a panicked young boy swimming nearby.

The one-year-old had flipped over the float and struggled to breathe as her mother turned her back to look at her phone.

About 90 seconds later, mother Ms Wu was shocked to see her daughter drowning and rushed over to pull her out the water with pool staff.


She was taken to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest and was left fighting for her life in a coma.

The incident took place at “Beibeilamu” infant swimming pool at Fuzhou city in Fujian Province on July 31, according to NTDTV.

The young mother took her daughter, Xiao Ai, for a swim for her first birthday celebration.

CCTV footage captured Xiao Ai flipped upside down, slipped out of the float and struggled in the water just a few feet from her clueless mother.

A boy noticed Xiao Ai was drowning and tried to save her but she had already sunk to the bottom of the pool.

So he quickly swam towards the edge of the swimming pool and attempted to alert the mother.

But Ms Wu brushed him away and carried on checking her mobile phone.

According to the report, Xiao Ai’s face turned purple.  She had no pulse and breathing either.

About 90 seconds later, Ms Wu was shocked to see her daughter drowning in the water when she turned back and talked to the boy.

Swimming pool staff rushed to the scene but no one can be seen performing first aid to the girl.

Ms Wu took her daughter and rushed to nearby hospital immediately.

The one-year-old was luckily revived after a 20-minute cardiac arrest rescue but physically unable to breathe.

Doctor Lin Shuqin said Xiao Ai has been transferred to intensive care unit with critical condition.

Safety experts often warn that drowning can be silent, with many examples showing how kids can die in packed pools without anyone noticing.

Mums and dads have therefore been urged to watch their little ones like hawks when they head into the water.

Couple Ordered To Return Over $400K Raised For Homeless Man

A couple who raised more than $400,000 for a homeless man after he used his last $20 to fill up the gas tank of a stranded motorist in Philadelphia must now turn over what's left of the cash.

A New Jersey judge issued the order Thursday during a hearing on the lawsuit brought by Johnny Bobbitt, who worries Mark D'Amico and Katie McClure have mismanaged a large part of the donations raised for him on GoFundMe.

The couple deny those claims, saying they're wary of giving Bobbitt large sums because they fear he will buy drugs.

The judge ordered the couple to transfer the money into an escrow account by the end of business Friday and hire a forensic accountant to review the financial records within 10 days.

The money will be transferred to an account controlled by Bobbitt's lawyers but can't be used until the judge determines how it will be managed. The judge didn't appoint a guardian to oversee the fund, but one could be appointed later.

McClure set up the online fundraiser page as a way to give back to Bobbitt, who came to her aid when she ran out of gas on an Interstate 95 exit ramp late one night. It raised more than $400,000 in funds donated by more than 14,000 people.

Bobbitt walked a few blocks to buy McClure gas. She didn't have money to repay him at the time, but sought him out days later to give him the money, and visited him a few more times to bring food and water. They later appeared on shows like "Good Morning America" and were interviewed by the BBC.

But the relationship has gone sour.

McClure and D'Amico have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing or misusing any of the money. D'Amico has said Bobbitt spent $25,000 in less than two weeks in December on drugs, in addition to paying overdue legal bills and sending money to his family.

The couple also bought Bobbitt a camper with some of the funds and parked it on land McClure's family owns in Florence. But Bobbitt became homeless again after D'Amico told him in June that he had to leave the property.

During an appearance Monday on NBC's "Megyn Kelly Today" show, D'Amico told Kelly there was well over $150,000 left of the donations.

Newly Crowned Miss Universe Zambia Wanted By Police For Stabbing White Lover

Police in Lusaka have launched a man hunt for recently crowned Miss Universe – Zambia, Melba Shakabozha after she stabbed her white lover Maji and took off with his K1, 250.

According to a report filed at the Lusaka Central Police, Melba stabbed her lover Maji in his stomach twice before stealing k1,250.

The lover lost multitude of blood and became unconscious.

He was discovered by one of the hotel waiters who reported to the manager before he was rushed to the hospital.

However, upon gaining consciousness, the lover narrated his story to the police who have now opened a case against Melba. Her mobile phone has so far been switched off.

Melba was crowned as the winner of Miss Universe Zambia 2018 on August 2018. She was on a holiday in Mauritius as one of her prize.

Saraki Obtains PDP Presidential Nomination Form

Twenty four hours after declaring his intention to run for president in 2019, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has obtained the presidential nomination form of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Mr Saraki’s aide, Olu Onemola, made this known via his Twitter handle Friday afternoon.

Mr Onemola said the director general of the Saraki Presidential Campaign Organization, Mohammed Wakil, obtained the presidential nomination on Mr Saraki’s behalf.

Police are looking for Jecinta Adhiambo who is known for selling her nudes, after she posted a video of her having s*x with another man as a five-year-old child watched.

Kenyans took to social media to express their anger at her latest video and called for her arrest for molesting and tormenting the young boy.

The latest video comes after another one she released a couple of months ago showing her having sex with a fish.

Adhiambo who has openly indicated that she sells nudes and s*x videos, took to Facebook and Whatsapp to announce to her clients that a new hot video was out.


One Jack Muia reacted after seeing the disturbing recording. He said that, “This woman should be in jail. You cannot do that to a child!”

Speaking to The Nairobian on phone, Kayole police boss Philip Lenkidi said they are investigating the matter and hoped to arrest the suspect.

Lenkidi said police are yet to confirm if indeed the woman lives in Kayole as is being claimed, but said they are seriously looking into the matter.

“We don’t know exactly where she lives, but we are looking for her and we will soon get her,” he said.

Lenkidi has asked anyone who knows the whereabouts of Adhiambo to report to the nearest police station.

But despite the police statement, Adhiambo was all over social media selling her new video where a young child is seen pulling her legs as she does her thing with a slender man whose face is hidden.

It is not clear where the video was recorded, but Adhaimbo has been busy online selling what she claims puts food on her table.

When The Nairobian caught up with her on WhatsApp, she described as rumours the reports that police are looking for her. She said that as far as she is concerned, she is not misusing anyone’s body and will not be intimidated by anyone.

“I am in business. I talk money, you either place your order or ‘go dry!’” she responded before going offline.

Her profile picture on WhatsApp is of a woman giving a man blow job, with her number inscribed, urging her followers to buy the videos.

The videos go for between Sh300 and Sh500, depending on the length and how erotic they are.

Police To Deploy 8 CPs For Osun Gov Election

Contrary to reports that 30 Commissioners of Police would be deployed to Osun State for the governorship election, the Police said only eight Commissioners of Police (CPs) would be deployed.

According to the Police, the senior Police officers who are expected to supervise security arrangements in the state would man the eight Area Commands and not each local government as reported.

Shocking! Teenager Drugs Man To Steal Motorcycle

An 18-year-old lady, Zinatu Abubakar, has been arrested by the police in Katsina for allegedly drugging a man in an attempt to steal his motorcycle.

According to the police, Zinatu tricked the man into chewing a chocolate bar, which made the victim become unconscious.

The police said the suspect, who resides at Hayin Danmani Quarters, Kaduna state, was a member of a syndicate that specialised in trickery.

The Katsina State Police Command spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, told journalists in Katsina on Thursday that Zinatu was arrested on Wednesday and was  undergoing interrogation.


He said, “On August 29, at about 10:00hrs, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting a female member of a notorious syndicate of motorcycle thieves that specialised in deceiving unsuspecting motorcycle riders by offering them poisoned chocolates.

“Nemesis caught up with one Zinatu Abubakar, ‘aged 18 years of Hayin Danmani Quarters, Kaduna State when she chattered a commercial motorcycle, ridden by one Gide Wada, aged 25 years, of Yarhaka village, Batagarawa LGA of Katsina State from Kofar Kaura to Sokoto Rima Quarters, Katsina township.”

According to Isah, Zinatu offered a chocolate bar to the motorcyclist, who on taking it fell off the motorcycle and became unconscious.

“With the good efforts of nearby Good Samaritans who witnessed the incident, the said suspect, Zinatu Abubakar, was arrested while her cohorts, one Abubakar and Chairman took to their heels and escaped.

“The suspect confessed to have used the same modus operandi in Kaduna and Kano and robbed innocent cyclists of their motorcycles.  Effort is in top gear to arrest other members of the syndicate,” the police spokesman said.

Inflatable Bikini-Clad Sadiq Khan To Fly Over London To Protest Mayor's Support Of Trump Inflatable

A giant inflatable depicting London Mayor Sadiq Khan in a bright yellow bikini will fly over London this weekend.

The blimp will be on display a month after a similar-sized balloon showing Donald Trump as a tanned baby played a leading role in the protest against the US President's visit to the UK.

The inflatable depicts Mr Khan lying on his side wearing a yellow bikini in reference to adverts that Khan banned from the tube.

In 2016, Mr Khan announced that Transport for London would not allow adverts on its network which could create body confidence issues, following a storm over a protein shake poster which featured a model posing in a yellow bikini and asked "Are you beach body ready?"

Organisers crowdfunded more than £58,000 online to pay for the blimp of Mr Khan which will be the centrepiece at a protest called Make London Safe Again.

They say they want to draw attention to the growing problem of knife crime in the capital accusing the Mayor of pursuing point scoring by allowing the Trump blimp to fly over London.
Yanny Bruere, who started the crowdfunding campaign, said he was challenging Mr Khan to allow the blimp to apply to show that "free speech applies to all".

More than 3,400 people have donated to the fund so far which Mr Bruere says is aimed at ensuring the mayor loses his job at the next election in 2020.

"People in London don't feel safe and they aren't safe, 81 murders this year alone! Khan Out."

The 28-year-old marketing manager told the Daily Mail he had been angered by the Mayor's support for the Trump blimp when he believed he should have been focus on political point scoring instead of dealing with soaring crime.

He said: 'I was just so irritated that Mr Khan took it upon himself to speak on behalf of the UK over the President's visit.

"Whatever anyone thinks of Mr Trump, he is still leader of the free world and should be accorded the respect of that position, especially at such a critical time for the UK as we face separation from the EU.

"It feels like the Mayor of London prioritises personal enmity over the good of the country."
Mr Khan's spokesman said at the time: "The mayor supports the right to peaceful protest and understands that this can take many different forms."

Teacher, 51, Admits Grooming 15-Year-Old Schoolboy After Weight-Loss Pill Increased Her S*x Drive

A teacher, 51, claims she groomed a 15-year-old schoolboy after a weight-loss drug dramatically increased her sex drive.

Jackie Mary Hays was working as a support staff member at a school in Sydney, Australia, when she targeted the teenage student.

Hays claimed she began taking the weight-loss drug Duromine four months before she started grooming the boy.

She pleaded guilty to grooming the boy for sexual activity between April 2015 and June 2016.


At Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday, Hays' Legal Aid defence lawyer Gillian Jewison asked for the case to be dealt with under the Mental Health Act.

Ms Jewison said the drug may have altered her sex drive and affected her state of the mind.

The court also heard Hays suffered from a borderline personality disorder.

Magistrate Robert Stone said there was no medical link between the drug and Hays' behaviour.

The only evidence was from a psychological report completed by the defence in which some of Hays' friends "observed she was off the planet" after taking the drug.

Ms Jewison said Hays' crime was at the lower end of the scale but Mr Ogilvy disagreed and said she tried to get the boy to sneak out at night.

Mr Ogilvy urged the magistrate to jail Hays given she was 47 when she started to send explicit messages to the teen.

Mr Stone gave numerous reasons why the case could not be dealt with under mental health provisions.

He said: "The issue is whether proceedings will produce a better outcome for individual and the community.

"I do not consider a dismissal is warranted because of the serious nature of offence.

"There is an issue of deterrence. In general terms, the community would expect better from people who work at school with children."

Mr Stone also said he could not consider a non-custodial sentence.

"She knew it was inappropriate, she knew it was illegal to have sex with the boy," he said.

"I think it breaches the threshold, and she is not eligible for an intensive corrections order."

Hays faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

1,700 Nigerians In Libya Prison- Kefas

The Charge D’ Affairs, Nigeria Mission to Libya, Mr Alex Kefas, says 165 stranded Nigerian irregular migrants were on Thursday evacuated from Libya by the Federal Government.

Kefas, who announced this at a news conference on the current situation on Nigerians in Libya, said that 1,700 Nigerians were serving various jail terms in `accessible’ prison in that country.

He said that were still many other Nigerians held for various offences in various prisons in the area being controlled by the rebels which still remained inaccessible to the mission.

“Our major issue now, apart from bilateral issue with Libya, is the issue of migrant crisis; the Federal Government as at today evacuated 3,801 irregular migrants in the last few months

“There are six of them that are dead and are in the mortuary as we cannot locate their families because many of them change names when they get there,” he said.

Buhari Leaves For China To Attend FOCAC

President Muhammadu Buhari will today depart for China to participate in the 7th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) scheduled to hold September 3 – 4, 2018 in Beijing.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said that the President’s first engagement in Beijing will be an interactive session with the Nigerian Community in China at the Nigerian Embassy.

He added “Before the formal opening of the FOCAC Summit, President Buhari in his capacity as current Chair of ECOWAS, is expected to deliver remarks at the High-Level Dialogue between Chinese and African leaders, business representatives and African entrepreneurs.”


Buhari is also scheduled to join President Jinping and other African leaders for the opening and roundtable sessions of the 2018 FOCAC Beijing Summit under the theme: “Towards an even Stronger China-Africa Community with a shared Future.”

After the FOCAC Summit, President Buhari will hold bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang to discuss infrastructure financing for strategic projects in Nigeria and the upgrading of Nigeria-China relations “from strategic partnership to comprehensive strategic partnership.”

The President will also use the occasion of his audience with the Chinese leadership to assess the progress made so far in Chinese interventions in Nigeria’s key priority infrastructure projects, particularly on-going projects in the railway and power sectors.

378 Bags Of ‘Poisonous Rice’ Impounded In Ebonyi

The Ebonyi State government has impounded 378 bags of rice suspected to be adulterated, it was learnt yesterday.

Senior Special Adviser to Governor Dave Umahi on Internal Security, Kenneth Ugbala, said the rice was seized on Tuesday and Wednesday when an investigating committee visited the market.

Ugbala, who chairs the committee, added that the market has been rid of all the suspected adulterated rice, and re-assured the people that Abakaliki rice is still safe and fit for consumption.

He, however, said the 10 shops where the adulterated rice was discovered will remain sealed pending the conclusion of investigations.


Commissioner for Environment Donatus Njoku said a staff of the ministry went to the market on Sunday and saw one of the millers mixing the rice in bags labelled as “not for human consumption” with others and re-bagging them.

The worker reported to him on Monday and he made preliminary investigations before reporting to the State Executive Council, which ordered the closure of the market and raised a panel to investigate the matter.

According to Njoku, the committee seized over 378 bags of the poisonous rice which was imported into the state from other parts of the country. Several persons were also arrested for the crime.

The leadership of the rice mill, headed by Joseph Ununu, has been suspended.

China Made Materials Cause Cancer, SON Warns Schools Of Importing Uniforms

Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has warned importers of school uniform materials to Nigeria from China based companies, Sing Shun Fat School Clothier Company and Zenith Uniform Company, about cancer causing substances found in the materials.

Spokesman for SON Osita Aboloma said the 4- amino azo dyes, which were found in school uniforms in Hong Kong, contained up to 173 milligrams and 41 milligrams per kilogram of the tested samples, which were well above the maximum allowed in the standard.

He said: “The 4-amino azo dyes have been banned in Europe, Japan and other parts of the world prior to the finding. They can release carcinogenic substances known as aromatic amines when they mix with sweat, which accounted for the ban on the use of the dyes in many countries.



“Importers of school uniform materials in Nigeria should endeavour to undergo the process of conformity assessment of such materials prior to import, through the SON off shore conformity assessment programme, SONCAP, in order to avoid bringing these products to the country.”

Aboloma advised Nigerians to report suspected uniform materials that may already be in the country to SON for sampling, laboratory tests and analysis to be carried out at its Textile and LeatherLaboratory in Kaduna for regulatory action.

The victims include Jafaru Gidan Sambo of Kaura Namoda Local Government Area (LGA), Mudi Mallamawa of Shinkafi LGA and Abdullahi Shugaba Ruwan Dorowa of Maru LGA.

The trio died in a bus crash 120 kilometres from Madina while travelling from the holy city to Madina.

Commissioner in Charge of Health Matters, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Dr. Ibrahim Kana, revealed that the Saudi authorities called to inform the Nigerian handlers of the pilgrims of the accident.


The deceased have been moved to the King Fahd Hospital, Madina while the survivors are currently taking treatment at a hospital near the scene of the accident, on the outskirts of Madina.

Kana disclosed that a team of Nigerian medical team has been dispatched to Madina, on the orders of

NAHCON chairman, Abdullah Mukhtar Muhammad, to liaise with Saudi authorities for necessary documentation and burial arrangements.

The recent incident brings the number of pilgrim deaths in the holy land to 10 this year.

Kanye West Shares Texts With Caitlyn Jenner Amid Kardashian Feud

Kanye West may be the only person in his family who doesn't have beef with Caitlyn Jenner.

Ye has tweeted a screenshot conversation between him and his wife Kim Kardashian's former stepfather, and it's safe to say, Mr. West is more than cool with the 68-year-old reality star. Not only were Caitlyn and Kanye texting, their convo actually started with Caitlyn thanking Kanye for sending her rumored girlfriend, Sophia Hutchins, Yeezy merch. 

In the texts, Caitlyn wrote, “Sophia loved the first set of looks your team left and went all yeezy for her travel outfit today! We love your looks!!” She added, “Thanks again,” to which Kanye responded, “So awesome. Your [sic] welcome.”

Kanye seemed to have maintained his friendship with the former Olympian despite Caitlyn being on the outs with the Kardashian family.
