Celebration in Abuja as former Benue State Governor Suswan regains freedom

The ex Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has been released by the Department of State Services, DSS, in Abuja.

Suswan was released on Sunday afternoon, May 7th after 70 days in custody. Supporters and sympathizers trooped to his Abuja residence to welcome.

The Akwa Ibom State Governor Emmanuel Udom also paid him a solidarity visit.

Suswam was arrested and in February by DSS over arms and ammunition seized from exotic cars in a luxury apartment in Abuja said to belong to him.

Details of his release are still sketchy but there has been displeasure lately over his undue detention by the DSS without being charged to court with several groups calling for his release.
