A small plane crashed in Mukilteo, Washington two days ago and the exact
moment it happened was captured by a vehicle’s dashcam. The crash
resulted in the damage of a number of cars but reports say there were no
injuries.
The footage shows the plane coming down over the
street as cars waited for the traffic light to change. The single-engine
plane suddenly came into view in the footage then almost immediately it
hit some power lines, burst into flames, then grazed the top of parked
vehicles before finally landing by the side of the road at Mukilteo
Boulevard Southwest in Mukilteo. There was a brief power cut in the area
resulting from the power lines which were affected during the crash.
The plane crashed at about 3:40 p.m.
local time on May 2nd, shortly after it took off from Paine Field
airport. The pilot reported he had lost power just before the crash, the
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said Wednesday.
Miraculously, the 30-year-old Oregon pilot and a passenger walked out
of the crashed plane unhurt, though a couple of people on the ground had
minor injuries.
One witness, Amanda Hayes, told of how the wing of the plane grazed her car right before it went down.
“I’m
so lucky,” Hayes said. “I just said, ‘Get down!’ And before I know it, I
could feel the heat on my face… and like the fireball and the wing
clipped at the end.”
