Ghanaian Reggae artiste, Ekow Micah has said the bible preaches weed smoking, and it's the  reason why he smokes. According to the musician who was speaking to Akwasi Aboagye on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, God smoked and the bible captured that in Psalm 18:7-8 which reads “The earth trembled and quaked, and the foundations of the mountains shook; they trembled because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it”.

The musician who has in some time past been arrested for possessing the illegal drug indicated that like some people love to eat Kontomire and other leaves and some people also prefer to drink alcohol, the food for the Rastaman is weed.

In recent times, some artistes including Kwaw Kesse and Samini have called on the government to legalize the herb in order for people who smoke and use it for other purposes can feel free to use it. They have argued that the herb can turn around the economic fortunes of the country and there is therefore a need to legalize it.
