But David Beckham appeared keen to make it known that his youthful look has not been achieved through any form of cosmetic surgery, when he took to Instagram to hit out at one social media user's accusation that he'd undergone Botox treatment.
After British Vogue shared a snapshot of the 42-year-old sitting front row with his wife Victoria Beckham's New York Fashion Week presentation, the woman in question remarked: 'Botox looks good on David!'
In an unusual move, the retired footballer commented under the glossy fashion bible's Instagram post to show that he'd taken umbrage to the remark, as he shot back: 'I don't agree with Botox miss... But I'll take it as a compliment.'
Undeterred, the Instagram user stood her ground as she said: 'Just stated the fact. It's Botox - no big deal,' to which the erstwhile Manchester United didn't respond.
In the image, David is seen sitting alongside his 19-year-old son Brooklyn and British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful.
His comment sparked something of a minor debate among those who caught wind of the star's comment, with one follower suggesting: 'Maybe it is just a picture effect or Photoshop. And makeup that he wears makes his face look smooth.'
Said another: 'I don't think he has Botox. He has ageing lines, you can easily see it on his pictures. He isn't so old. There are men and women who is looking good in their 40s.'
