Men oooo, hahaha... For allegedly selling off her car without her consent, a 55-year-old woman has dragged her husband before an Alakuko Customary Court, Lagos State,  asking for the dissolution of her marriage.

The petitioner, Mrs. Ali Sherifat, a businesswoman, told the court that her husband,  Azeez Ali sold off some of her property without her knowledge.

“My husband is fond of selling my property without my knowledge and I am tired of this attitude.

“He would sell off my jewelry and use the money to play Baba Ijebu and  also womanise.

“I am solely responsible for taking care of him and my two step children. I treat those children like mine, but sadly, he goes about telling people I am childless because I am wicked.

“We have been married for close to fifteen years and our union has brought me nothing but pain and hardship. I struggle to make ends meet, but all my husband does is to steal my money and sell my property.

“I had a minor accident with my car late last year so I parked it in our compound while trying to raise money to fix it. I only warm the car in the morning while I drive my other car.

“I came back from shop sometime last month only to find that the car had suddenly disappeared. I asked my step son about it, but he denied knowing what happened to it. It was my step daughter who told me that their father brought some people who took the car away.

“I confronted my husband and he said he has the right to sell my property and even sell me if someone asked to buy me. He threatened to beat me and send me out of my own house. I have had enough of his bossy and cheating ways. I want an end to this marriage. The children are almost adults and they have been begging to stay with me,” she said.

The respondent however denied the allegations, claiming that the car in dispute was bought by him.

“My wife is not submissive. I have cautioned her several times, but she has not shown any readiness to change,” he said.

He also asked the court to dissolve the union because he was no longer interested in it.

The court president, Mr. F.A. Shonoiki adjourned the  case till July 12.
