Initially, onlookers thought they had awkwardly run into each other at Nobu in Malibu, with one calling the meeting 'tense'.
However, sources close to Kourtney - who shares sons Mason, 8, and Reign, 3, and daughter Penelope, 6, with Scott - have said it was her idea they all get together.
It's the first time the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has been spotted with Scott, 35, and Sofia, 20, together since they started dating last year.
An insider told People that Kourtney “doesn’t necessarily care to get to know Sofia better, but she feels she needs to because of the kids.”
They added: “Sofia spends time with Kourtney’s kids, so Kourtney wants to make sure they are all on the same page.
“Scott and Sofia tend to get into arguments. Kourtney wants to make sure the kids are in a positive environment when they are at Scott’s house. She is setting up rules for how things needs to be when the kids are with Scott.”
“It was a quick dinner,” a second source told the publication. “It seemed a bit tense. It wasn’t like they are all friends and were hanging out for fun. It looked more like a business dinner.”
