Alba’s condition is very unique. She has white hair, blue irises and red pupils, and was determined to be an albino.
Sadly, when she was discovered she was ‘exhibiting wild behaviours’, and was aggressive towards humans.
However, a rehabilitation programme has helped to tame Alba, and she’s now ready to be released.
Jamartin Sihite, BOS Foundation CEO, said: “The decision to return Alba, the first albino orangutan ever to be recorded, back to the forest supports the government’s – in this case the Ministry of Environment and Forestry's – commitment to protecting all of Indonesia’s wildlife, including orangutans and their habitat.
