He said all bars, banks, shops, petrol stations, shopping malls, markets, motor parks and all public spaces were to comply with the directive forthwith.
The governor, who directed security agencies to ensure compliance and stand firm in the defence of the people, advised all parents and guardians to ensure that their wards were kept in their homes.
Similarly, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau, has imposed a 24-hour curfew in Jos North and Jos South Local Government Areas, from 8p.m. on Tuesday
Lalong gave the order while briefing newsmen on Tuesday at the Government House In Jos.
“It is rather unfortunate that in the past few days , the #EndSARS protest which began peacefully have gradually degenerated to the situation where hoodlums have attacked and molested innocent citizens who are going about their normal businesses
“This development took a new turn on Tuesday, Oct. 20, when the protest led to destruction of properties, cars and looting of business premises along Ahmadu Bello way, as well as the burning of a place of worship, on the Gyero road Bukuru, In addition, three deaths have been recorded,” he said.
“Furthermore, all public and private businesses are to shutdown activities immediately while parents are strongly advised to rein in their children, youth and wards to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
“Only those on essential services will be allowed to move around to their duty posts, ” he said.
Also Governor Gboyega Oyetola, of Osun has declared a 24-hour curfew on the state, effective from 11:59 pm (tuesday), until further notice.
Oyetola said the curfew followed the dangerous dimension the EndSARS protest had assumed across the country, particularly in the South West states.
A statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Wole Oyebamiji, quoted the governor as saying with the curfew imposed, there will be no movement throughout the state.
Oyetola said only those on essential duties with valid identification would be permitted to move around during the period of the curfew.
He appealed to citizens and residents of the state to comply with the directive, adding that any person found contravening the order would be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law.
