Nicki Minaj's mother congratulates the rapper on her first child

Nicki Minaj became a mother earlier this week when she welcomed her first child with husband Kenneth Petty. 

And the rapper's mother Carol Maraj took to Instagram on Friday to congratulate her daughter on her new 'bundle of joy.' 

Grandmama Maraj shared a piece of fan art showing Nicki, 37, cradling her new baby, just a day after TMZ reported the Starships hitmaker welcomed her child on Wednesday. 

'Thank you Lord for blessing my daughter, [Nicki Minaj] with a beautiful bundle of joy,' Maraj wrote on Instagram. 

Writing to Nicki, she added: 'You have always been a Blessing to myself and your family and now you have received one of the best Blessings from God.' 

'"Children are a gift from the Lord. They are a reward from Him," Pslams 127:3,' she ended the post. 'Let us rejoice!.' 

Alongside her well wishes, she posted a heavenly drawing of Nicki by artist Vince Maraj, who does not appear to be related, cradling a swaddled baby among golden clouds. 

The Anaconda singer gave birth on Wednesday in Los Angeles, according to a report from TMZ. The site shared that the gender of the child and the name have not yet been made available.
