Leke and Adeolu, the male children of General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, have shaved their hair, and beard, in honour of their brother, Oluwadamilare Adeboye.

Oluwadamilare, 42, died in his sleep last Tuesday in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he pastored a church.

Leke said in a post on his Instagram account: “This is our tradition. Anytime we lose a fallen soldier as youths, we shave off our hair as a sign of respect and honour.

“To live is Christ and to die is gain. It is very simple. PD is already gone. How are you living right now? Heads shaved; clean hearts and clean minds.”

It was learnt that some male members of the church have also shaved their hair as a sign of respect for the deceased.

The family, in a statement by Leke, released the burial programme.

There was a special service at the City of David Youth Church in Eket, Akwa Ibom yesterday.

There will be thanksgiving songs and tribute today at the RCCG House of Favour, Redemption Camp, Ogun State, from 4 pm to 6 pm.

A farewell service will hold at 10 am tomorrow at the Youth Centre in the Redemption Camp.

The family said: “With our hearts full of gratitude, we appreciate you, for standing by our family in this period of trial.

“We are consoled, no doubt, by the fact that our beloved son has returned home, to rest in the bosom to his maker and father.”

Lead pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume, described Dare’s passing as a painful loss.

“On behalf of my family and the entire congregation of the Victory Life Bible Church International, we extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to our Revered Papa And Mama E.A. Adeboye on the demise of their son, Pastor Oluwadamilare Temitayo Adeboye, who joined the saints triumphant on 4th of May, 2021.

“The news came to us as a big shock but even in our grief, we are consoled in the belief that he is already resting in the bosom of his creator.

“No doubt, Oluwadamilare gave his all to service in God’s vineyard and was a great source of inspiration to many.

“May God give you and mama, the widow and children the fortitude to bear this great loss (amen),” Achudume said.

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) also expressed shock over Oluwadamilare’s death.

In a statement by its spokesman, Emmanuel Yawe, the Northern socio-cultural group said: “We were more shocked by the news that he was not sick at the time he died but passed on peacefully in his sleep.

“We are sure that as a man of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has taken the death of his third son whom he fondly called a miracle child in good faith.

“The death may be painful and we join others to remind Pastor Adeboye, his family and the young family of Pastor Dare that as recorded in Ecclesiastes Chapter 3: 4, this is a time to weep and mourn and that the ACF is weeping and mourning with them and the whole RCCG.”
