A son has used a walking stick to beat his father to a pulp for bringing different girls to their home after dumping the mother.
B-Metro reveals that the son identified as Mthandazo Mathema had warned the father on numerous occasions over the incident. The boy who begged for forgiveness in court said he was forced to do what he did to stop his father’s wayward ways.
“He dumped my mother and now he brings different women for sleep-overs. The matter has become a subject of discussion in the community,” said Mthandazo Mathema (24) when he appeared before magistrate on circuit at Inyathi, Stephen Ndlovu facing a domestic violence charge.
Explaining what happened, he said an argument had ensued between the pair with Mthandazo accusing his father Saziso Mabhena (53) of being sexually immoral.
The older Mabhena felt disrespected and he used his walking stick to discipline his son but he was swiftly blocked.
In turn, Mthandazo seized the walking stick and used it on him instead. Mabhena sustained a cut on the forehead and a neighbour had to rush him to Inyathi District Hospital.
A police case was filed at Inyathi Police Station leading to Mthandazo’s arrest. Appearing in court he pleaded not guilty but expressed worry over his father’s behaviour.
When Mabhena took to the stand he said Mthandazo always beat him up.
“He usually blames me for separating with his mother. After that he beats me up. I am fed up with him. I have been telling him to vacate my homestead but he has been refusing. Instead he says I have to leave my homestead,” he said.
Mthandazo was remanded in custody to 15 July for sentencing.
