Donald Trump's travel expenses in 10 weeks cost taxpayers as much as Obama's travel expenses in two years

Donald Trump has been the
president of the United States for three months but his travel expenses in 10 weeks out of those months have surpassed what Barack Obama spent in two years.

Trump’s
trips to Mar-a-Lago, his Florida resort, amounts to at least $24
million. Since taking office 10 weeks ago, the President has spent 7
weeks out of it at Mar-a-Lago.
Each trip is estimated to cost at least
$3 million. The total amount Trump’s trip has cost is as much as his
predecessor Obama spent on travels in roughly two years of his
presidency.

Obama’s trips over the eight years of his presidency
amounted to a total of $97 million, that is an average of $12.1 million a
year – an amount Trump almost matched in his first month. In just one
month as president, Trump spent $10 million on three golfing holidays,
the exact same game he had regularly criticized Obama for playing while
holding office.

“While our wonderful president was out
playing golf all day, the TSA is falling apart, just like our
government! Airports a total disaster!” Trump tweeted in May 2016.

Asides
Trump’s travel expenses, the cost of travel and security for Trump’s
entire family takes up an even higher amount than that of the President.
Melania Trump and her son Barron are remaining in the Trump Tower in
New York until a later time so as to enable him to continue schooling
and according to the New York Police Department, it costs between
$127,000 and $146,000 a day “to protect the First Lady and her son while
they reside in Trump Tower”.

math, you will see that in just ten months Trump will have outspent
Obama’s 8-year travel expenses if he continues at this pace. Americans
are not pleased with these travels and spendings which they consider
unnecessary. Some have pointed out that if Trump cuts back on his
numerous travels he could fund the social security and arts programs
that he is planning to slash. Over the course of his four-year term, the
security arrangement for Trump’s Mar-a-Lago trips alone is estimated to
cost the taxpayer $600 millio
