Ronaldo did not score but had an impressive game and finished the tournament as the top scorer, with 15 goals – five more than joint second place Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
And Ronaldo is so pleased with his performance that he wants Uefa to consider a Champions League name change.
“Who was the top scorer once again?” he replied when asked afterwards if he was disappointed not to get on the scoresheet.
“The Champions League should change and be called the CR7 Champions League.
“I have won five and I am the goalscorer again, so I cannot be sad.”
Ronaldo, 33, also appeared to open the door to a move away from the Spanish giants after the victory.
When asked about his future, Ronaldo said: “The main thing was to win, to go down in history”.
He was then pressed on the question by a Spanish journalist, adding: “Now it's time to enjoy this. In the next few days I'll give the fans, who have been by my side, an answer. It's been great being at Real Madrid.
“I'll speak in the next few days. Now it's time to enjoy the moment. The future of any player isn't important. We've made history.”
