Identical twin brothers who are said to have spent their entire lives together were found hanged at a park, an inquest heard.

Neil and Paul Micklewright were described as ‘inseparable’ before they died last week aged 52, Manchester Evening News reports.

Their bodies were found by a dog walker in Davyhulme Park barely 500m from the family home they grew up in on Salisbury Road on Tuesday, July 31.

An air ambulance was sent to the scene at around 8.40am but the men were declared dead at the scene.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the tragic discovery and passed a file to the coroner.

An inquest was opened today at Stockport Coroner’s Court.

South Manchester coroner Chris Morris said a post-mortem exam showed both men died from hanging.

The inquest was adjourned pending a full hearing on February 7 next year.

It is believed the Micklewright brothers, who were both single and never married, moved out of their childhood home to a nearby flat in Urmston after their mother Joan died around 2015.

Their father is believed to have died around ten years ago.

Next-door-neighbour Lilian Burgess, 84, knew the Micklewright brothers from when they were children and has been left distraught by their deaths.

“They were so quiet. They were introverted and would hardly ever speak,” she said.

“But they wouldn’t hurt anyone - the pair of them were gentle.

“They were inseparable - you would never see them apart. They did everything together.
