The Spice Girl will tell how she was just 14 and living in Leeds when she swallowed tablets in her first cry for help.
Then, in December 2014, at the age of 39, she overdosed on 200 pills, and had to have her stomach pumped in hospital.
Reports in the US say a manuscript of her book, Brutally Honest, describes how she looked in a bathroom mirror as she put each pill on her tongue and swallowed.
Mel, 43, spoke of the suicide attempt during her bitter divorce from Stephen Belafonte .
She said it happened seven months after he was alleged to have made their nanny Lorraine Gilles pregnant.
Mel claimed after she had taken the pills in London, where she was working on X Factor , Belafonte stopped her calling 999, telling her instead to “die, bitch!”
Mel’s friend then disguised her to fool photographers outside as she was taken to hospital. It led her to miss part of the X Factor finals.
