The body of a New Orleans teen killed two weeks ago in a shooting was dressed in his favorite basketball jersey and propped up in front of a TV with a video game controller in his hands for his unique memorial service.

The family of Renard Matthews, 18, wanted to make sure the teen was surrounded by the things he loved when they said their final goodbyes to him so they re-created something he enjoyed doing: playing video games and watching the Boston Celtics on TV.

The teen's mom, Temeka, told WGNO that her son was a bit of a homebody and had only recently started venturing outside before he was killed in a shooting on June 25.

Temeka said her son, a graduate of McDonogh 35 High School, loved the Boston Celtics and playing video games so they dressed him in a Celtics No. 11 jersey - a nod to his favorite player Kyrie Irving - and propped him up in a chair for his memorial service on Sunday at Charbonnet Labat Glapion Funeral Home in Treme.

The family also placed a video game controller in his hands, laid out a few of his favorite snacks and had a Celtics game playing on the TV in front of where the body was displayed.

Matthews was shot and killed while he was walking his dog on June 25. His aunt, Natasha Joseph, said he was also robbed of his cellphone.

Police do not have a motive for the crime, and so far no one has been arrested.

Matthews will be buried today.
