President Buhari on Thursday, 30th of May, departed Abuja for the summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

It’s the 14th session of the conference and was hosted by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and attended by heads of state and government of member-states.

The summit theme is “Makkah al-Mukarramah Summit: Hand in hand toward the future”. It seeks to develop a unified stance on events in the Islamic world.

Anyway, Political activist, Deji Adeyanju however feels it was unnecessary for President Buhari to attend saying Nigeria is not an Islamic nation. Recating to it on Twitter, he said;

''Why is President Buhari dragging Nigeria into an alliance with Organization of Islamic Nations? Is Nigeria an Islamic nation? Why is this Saudi Arabia alliance necessary? This shit irritates me. Section 10 of our constitution is clear. Nigeria is a secular state.''
