The police has given chilling account of how a man allegedly hired people to murder his best friend in cold blood.
An Abuja businessman has lost his life after he was brutally murdered by the best friend. The incident happened in Abuja, Nigeria.
The prosecutor has given chilling account how the shocking incident happened.
According to Vanguard, the late Anthony Eze was a successful Abuja businessman before he was murdered in cold blood on November 6, 2014 at Tungamaji, Zuba, in the Federal Capital Territory by the six accused persons.
The prosecutor, who was under cross-examination by a team of defence counsel standing for the six accused persons, affirmed his earlier position that the sixth accused person, Mr. Augustine Nwamba, hired the other accused persons to kill his friend. Those charged for the alleged murder are Anayo Eze, Samuel Okoro, Emmanuel Igwe, Idris Shaibu alias Calamity, Okechukwu Nelson and Augustine Nwamba.
The prosecutor said the deceased was shot at a close range with a gun yet to be recovered by one of the accused persons at 8p.m. on the said date.
When asked how many phones he recovered from the deceased, he said: ‘‘The deceased was not alive for me to know how many phones he had recovered. What I discovered during the course of my investigation was that he was in the company of three persons in a drinking joint before he was shot.
“The deceased was taken to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital by policemen from Zuba Division with the aid of the sixth accused person before the matter was brought to me. I can also confirm that it was dark and drizzling when he was shot.”
On confessional statement earlier, Justice Salisu Umar of the High Court 11, Maitama, had admitted a confessional statement on the murder case, following submissions by the prosecution and defence counsel. Though the defence counsel opposed the submission of the statement on the grounds that it was not voluntarily made by the first suspect in the case, the court admitted it.
Meanwhile, Justice Garuba Salisu in his ruling said the cross-examination will continue from the adjourned date to enable the defence counsel close the cross-examination on the case.
The case was adjourned to September 22 and 26 to enable the judge and other judicial workers resume from Ramadan break. Mr. Anthony Eze, an importer of goods from China, was allegedly assassinated in cold blood on November 6, 2014 by one of the suspects, Augustine Nwamba alias Janganza, said to be his best friend.
