Dr Titus Bradley, 42, and Hungarian girlfriend Noemi Gergely, 28, were found dead at a diving guest house on the idyllic island on April 17 alongside their pet Rottweiler.
Workers at the family-friendly Divin Art guest house in the town of Ribeira Grande on the Cape Verde island of Santo Antao called police after stumbling upon the horrific scene - but nothing could be done to save them.
Police in the town said they were treating the deaths as murder-suicide - is is believed Dr Bradley used the 6.35mm pistol to shoot Noemi before turning the weapon on himself.
Dr Bradley reportedly left his wife Lucy and their 11-year-old son after meeting Noemi in a London nightclub in 2012.
And the pair are said to have fled Britain last year as police began investigating missing NHS cash linked to Dr Bradley's practices in Hastings, East Sussex.
Up to £400,000 for staff wages, funding the practices and staff pensions could not be accounted for, the Sun reports.
Yesterday, guest house manager Helder Bentub told how Titus and Hungarian-born Noemi, who arrived on Santo Antao two days before the April 15 incident from the neighbouring island of Sao Vicente, had been rowing before they heard the shots ring out.
“They booked a double room with an extra bed on booking.com and arrived on April 13 with a pet dog called Bobby who I think was a Rottweiler," Mr Bentub said.
“The man was quite reserved but there was nothing to indicate there were any problems and the woman was very nice.
“The day of the shooting was no different from any others."They went out after breakfast to go walking and exploring and came back around 5pm.
“The only difference that day was that there was a terrible argument.
"They were in their room but we could hear shouting and the banging of doors and windows.
“They came out of their rooms and went to the restaurant and argued again and the woman told one of our staff that her companion had hit her.
“We heard the shots ring out a couple of minutes later when they were both back in their room.
“We found them lying dead in the bathroom after forcing our way in.
"The dog was with them but alive.
“The police station is very near and they got here a couple of minutes later but there was nothing they could do to save them.”
