The Football Association is set to agree an £800million deal with American billionaire Shahid Khan for Wembley Stadium in a move that could see the Fulham owner relocate his NFL side Jacksonville Jaguars to London.

In an astonishing move, Khan has tabled an £800m offer for the stadium in north-west London and FA chiefs are on the verge of accepting, according to the Daily Mail.

The deal would see Khan produce £500m up front to the FA and he would allow the organisation to keep the Club Wembley hospitality business that is valued at around £300m.

Khan, who is worth around £5.25bn, bought Fulham football club in 2013 and his NFL side the Jaguars have played in London in each of the last five years as part of an aggressive strategy designed to boost the appeal of American Football to UK audiences.

The agreement would allow the FA to host the majority of England matches at Wembley stadium but the autumn internationals are now likely to be held at grounds across the country, a move that is likely to please supporters.
